Acommodating aspiring workers

Aspiring workers are people who have been overlooked by the workplace or sidelined due to episodic or persistent illness. The study focused on aspiring workers struggling to remain in the workplace and in need of accommodation to stay employed. Unemployment among people living with severe mental illness hovers between 70 and 90 per cent.


The Canadian Labour Congress is hosting their first ever National Young Worker's Summit, Oct. 23 - 25, 2016 in Ottawa. CUPE local 1091 passed a motion at the June 18th general membership meeting to send two representatives from our local to attend this important summit.


Congratulations to our Executive Board of CUPE Local 1091, voted in by acclimation at our June 18, 2016 membership meeting:

In accordance with Article 18:01 of the current Collective Agreement: "adverse reports or records of disciplinary action shall be removed upon written request of the employee if the incident(s) involved occurred more than twenty-four (24) months previously".
If you have records as listed above, in your personnel file in Human Resources, and you would like to have them removed, please write or email Dale Hunter, Manager for Support Staff at the School Board Office.

CUPE Local 1091 has sponsored scholarships for graduating Grade 12 students for a number of years. There are two types of scholarships: one for students graduating from a Delta Secondary School, and the other, the Out of District scholarship, is for students graduating from a Secondary School outside of Delta.
